The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards are coming up! There’s so much to do in so little time, so I shall now be giving you my predictions for the Drama Series categories.

Outstanding Drama Series:
  1. Game of Thrones
  2. Succession
  3. Killing Eve
  4. Ozark
  5. Better Call Saul
  6. This is Us
  7. Pose
  8. Bodyguard
At the Creative Arts ceremony last weekend, Game of Thrones took home 10 awards, which was the most of any program this year. While the final season of HBO’s juggernaut proved to be very divisive among critics and audiences, I think it’s a safe bet to predict Game of Thrones to win this award for the fourth and final time.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series:
  1. Billy Porter-Pose
  2. Jason Bateman-Ozark
  3. Kit Harrington-Game of Thrones
  4. Bob Odenkirk-Better Call Saul
  5. Sterling K. Brown-This is Us
  6. Milo Ventimiligia-This is Us
At first, I had Jason Bateman winning this. He’s gotten a lot of attention not only for his performance on Ozark, but also as a director and executive producer of the show as well. Though with that being said, every single winner of this award since 2011 has gone to either a first year show (which in this case would be Billy Porter) or a last year show (which in this case would be Kit Harrington). While the first season of Pose didn’t do as well in nominations as many people thought it would early on, Broadway veteran Billy Porter has pretty much been the breakout star of the hit FX series. Not to mention that the second season was airing right in the middle of final Emmy voting. I should also point out that his episode submission from the first season is, in my opinion, the perfect showcase for him.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series:
  1. Sandra Oh-Killing Eve
  2. Laura Linney-Ozark
  3. Jodie Comer-Killing Eve
  4. Emilia Clarke-Game of Thrones
  5. Robin Wright-House of Cards
  6. Mandy Moore-This is Us
  7. Viola Davis-How to Get Away with Murder
This is a bit of a tricky race here. On the one hand, Sandra Oh has been Emmy nominated six times before, but still has yet to win. So far, she has won the Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and SAG Awards for her performance on the first season of Killing Eve. Albeit, her co-star, Jodie Comer, wasn’t even in contention at two of those awards groups. Though it does help that Sandra also earned two additional nominations for hosting Saturday Night Live and the Golden Globes this past year. However, Jodie Comer not only managed to win the BAFTA TV Award over Sandra, but she was also seen as more of a standout in the second season. This could potentially lead to vote-splitting, thus paving the way for Emmy darling Laura Linney to win for Ozark. She’s previously earned five nominations prior to this year, four of which resulted in wins, so one should never count her out. Then again, I could see Emmy voters giving a farewell hug to Emilia Clarke or Robin Wright for the final season of their respective shows.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series:
  1. Peter Dinklage-Game of Thrones
  2. Jonathan Banks-Better Call Saul
  3. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau-Game of Thrones
  4. Giancarlo Esposito-Better Call Saul
  5. Michael Kelly-House of Cards
  6. Alfie Allen-Game of Thrones
  7. Chris Sullivan-This is Us
To date, Peter Dinklage remains to be the only cast member from Game of Thrones to have won an acting prize. He’s prevailed in this category three times before, and I think Emmy voters will award him again for the fourth and final time.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series:
  1. Julia Garner-Ozark
  2. Fiona Shaw-Killing Eve
  3. Lena Headey-Game of Thrones
  4. Maisie Williams-Game of Thrones
  5. Sophie Turner-Game of Thrones
  6. Gwendoline Christie-Game of Thrones
With four ladies from Game of Thrones in contention here, they could all cancel each other out. I’m predicting Julia Garner to win for her standout role on Ozark. She very surprisingly earned an individual SAG nomination in the catch-all category of Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series this past year, so it seems that the actors’ branch really took notice of her work on the second season. Then again, Fiona Shaw did win the BAFTA TV Award for the first season of Killing Eve earlier this year, and now she’s nominated here for that same role in the second season. It’s especially worth noting that the actors’ branch also nominated her this year for guest starring in Fleabag, and visibility often helps people in these races.

The Red Carpet begins at 7:00 Sunday night on FOX followed by the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards at 8:00.
