The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards are coming up! There’s so much to do in so little time, so I shall now be giving you my predictions for the Limited Series/TV Movie categories.

Outstanding Limited Series:
  1. Big Little Lies
  2. The Night Of
  3. Feud: Bette & Joan
  4. Fargo
  5. Genius
Unlike last year when The People v. O.J. Simpson was such an enormous juggernaut that swept through a lot of these categories, the award for Outstanding Limited Series this year is more up for grabs. At the Creative Arts Awards last weekend, The Night Of won 4 awards (including Picture Editing) while Big Little Lies won 3 (including Casting). They each got one of two important categories that are required to win this award. With all the support and acclaimed Big Little Lies has received, I think it’s (slightly) outfront. Though The Night Of, which aired over a year ago, may still have its fair share of support as well. Feud: Bette & Joan may also has broad support from the creative arts branches (it won two awards for Hairstyling and Makeup last weekend), though it wasn’t nominated for Picture Editing, which could leave it on shaky grounds.

Outstanding Television Movie:
  1. Black Mirror
  2. Sherlock: The Lying Detective
  3. The Wizard of Lies
  4. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
  5. Christmas of Many Colors
You might as well throw a dart on the board to predict a winner in this category. Black Mirror is the only nominee that has a corresponding nomination for writing, so it seems to have an advantage. Though since Sherlock ended up winning this award last year for The Abominable Bride, could it again this year for The Lying Detective?

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series/Movie:
  1. Riz Ahmed-The Night Of
  2. Robert De Niro-The Wizard of Lies
  3. Ewan McGregor-Fargo
  4. Geoffrey Rush-Genius
  5. Benedict Cumberbatch-Sherlock: The Lying Detective
  6. John Turturro-The Night Of
So many of these men seem to have a great shot at winning this award. There’s film legend Robert De Niro competing at the Emmys for the very first time for his performance as Bernie Madoff. There’s also veteran actor Geoffrey Rush, a previous Emmy winner for The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, nominated again this year for his performance as Albert Einstein. Then there’s Ewan McGregor who’s nominated for playing two brothers on the third season of Fargo. Riz Ahmed may have been enjoying a banner year not only with The Night Of, but also with his supporting role in Rouge One: A Star Wars Story (which is why I have him outfront, overall). Though since his co-star, John Turturro, a veteran actor is also nominated in this category, they could potentially cancel each other out.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series/Movie:
  1. Nicole Kidman-Big Little Lies
  2. Carrie Coon-Fargo
  3. Jessica Lange-Feud: Bette & Joan
  4. Susan Sarandon-Feud: Bette & Joan
  5. Reese Witherspoon-Big Little Lies
  6. Felicity Huffman-American Crime
Of the two nominees in this category for Big Little Lies, Nicole Kidman really seems to have the meatier role (she plays the wife of an abusive husband). Though since Reese Witherspoon is also nominated here, could they both cancel each other out? Jessica Lange (who’s been an Emmy darling as of late) and Susan Sarandon (who’s overdue for a win) may also split some votes here for their performances as Hollywood icons Joan Crawford and Bette Davis on Feud. Could vote-splitting be able to help nominees like Carrie Coon or Felicity Huffman prevail here? Coon may have an edge thanks not only to her work on Fargo, but also her work on HBO’s The Leftovers, which recently ended its run this past season.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/Movie:
  1. Alexander Skarsgard-Big Little Lies
  2. Alfred Molina-Feud: Bette & Joan
  3. David Thewlis-Fargo
  4. Michael Kenneth Williams-The Night Of
  5. Stanley Tucci-Feud: Bette & Joan
  6. Bill Camp-The Night Of
Alexander Skarsgard does play the abusive husband on Big Little Lies, could that make or break his chances of winning here? Since Alfred Molina and Stanley Tucci are both veteran actors nominated in this category for their performances on Feud, they could cancel each other out. Though Molina may have an edge given that he plays a very sympathetic character on the show. David Thewlis also gave a scene-stealing performance as the villain on the third season of Fargo. Could he be that show’s first cast member to have won an acting award? Vote-splitting may more likely happen to the two men from The Night Of.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series/Movie:
  1. Laura Dern-Big Little Lies
  2. Regina King-American Crime
  3. Judy Davis-Feud: Bette & Joan
  4. Shailene Woodley-Big Little Lies
  5. Michelle Pfeiffer-The Wizard of Lies
  6. Jackie Hoffman-Feud: Bette & Joan
Regina King has already won this award for the last two years, could she do so again for the final season of American Crime? She does have the benefit of not being up against a co-star in this category where four of the other nominees may split the vote. Though of the two nominees for Big Little Lies, Laura Dern is a veteran actress who’s overdue for an Emmy. She may also have help from her role on the recent Showtime miniseries, Twin Peaks. Though I wouldn’t count out Shailene Woodley, who not only is more of a lead on the show, but also probably benefits from playing a rape victim.

Be sure to watch the Emmys on CBS at 8:00 tonight.
