The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards are coming up! There’s so much to do in so little time, so I shall now be giving you my predictions for the Comedy Series categories. I may not be as knowledgeable on these categories since I don’t watch a lot of sitcoms, but I’m still going to try the best I can.

Outstanding Comedy Series:
  1. Veep
  2. Silicon Valley
  3. Atlanta
  4. Master of None
  5. Black-ish
  6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
  7. Modern Family
Given the current political climate we’re currently living in, it seems that Veep will likely be winning this award for the third year in a row. As for potential upsets, maybe Silicon Valley given that it’s the only other nominee that got all the key nominations required to win (Directing, Writing, Casting, and Picture Editing). Though with that being said, there’s just no clear alternative.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series:
  1. Donald Glover-Atlanta
  2. Jeffrey Tambor-Transparent
  3. Anthony Anderson-Black-ish
  4. William H. Macy-Shameless
  5. Zach Galifianakis-Baskets
  6. Aziz Ansari-Master of None
With all the work Donald Glover has put into Atlanta (not only does he star in it, but he also created it, produced it, and directed a couple episodes), he really seems to have a great shot of winning here. Though Jeffrey Tambor could still win his third consecutive Emmy for Transparent, especially after Donald Trump’s ban on transgenders from joining the military.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series:
  1. Julia Louis-Dreyfus-Veep
  2. Allison Janney-Mom
  3. Tracee Ellis Ross-Black-ish
  4. Pamela Adlon-Better Things
  5. Ellie Kemper-Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
  6. Lily Tomlin-Grace & Frankie
  7. Jane Fonda-Grace & Frankie
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won this award for her role on Veep for the last five years, it seems that she’ll likely be adding a sixth to mantle very soon. While she may have no clear alternative, I’d watch out for Allison Janney. After competing in supporting for her role on Mom within the last three years (where she ended up winning for the first two seasons), she moved up to lead. She did it before for The West Wing, where she pulled an upset in lead over Jennifer Garner for Alias.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series:
  1. Alec Baldwin-Saturday Night Live
  2. Louie Anderson-Baskets
  3. Tituss Burgess-Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
  4. Tony Hale-Veep
  5. Matt Walsh-Veep
  6. Ty Burrell-Modern Family
With Alec Baldwin earning so much acclaim and popularity for his impersonations of Donald Trump this past year, he seems to have a great shot of winning. Though Louie Anderson was a surprise winner last year for Baskets. With the new voting system being a straight plurality vote for the second year in a row, could he be able to repeat?

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series:
  1. Kate McKinnon-Saturday Night Live
  2. Anna Chlumsky-Veep
  3. Judith Light-Transparent
  4. Leslie Jones-Saturday Night Live
  5. Kathryn Hahn-Transparent
  6. Vanessa Bayer-Saturday Night Live
Kate McKinnon already pulled a shocking surprise when she won this award last year. Though since she’s up against two other cast members from Saturday Night Live, there is a risk of vote-splitting. Anna Chlumsky has now been nominated five times for her role on Veep, but still has yet to win. With her being the only nominee who isn’t up against a co-star from her series, how good of an advantage does she have?

Be sure to watch the Emmys on CBS at 8:00 tomorrow night.
