The 76th Golden Globe Awards are tomorrow night! With so little time left, I’ll be giving you my predictions for the film categories. Please keep in mind that the nominees and winners are voted on by about 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. So let’s get on with the predictions, shall we?

Best Motion Picture-Drama:
  1. A Star is Born
  2. BlacKkKlansman
  3. If Beale Street Could Talk
  4. Black Panther
  5. Bohemian Rhapsody
Can anything stop the critical and financial juggernaut known as A Star is Born? Or could Spike Lee’s important (and relevant) film BlacKkKlansman pull an upset?

Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama:
  1. Bradley Cooper-A Star is Born
  2. Rami Malek-Bohemian Rhapsody
  3. John David Washington-BlacKkKlansman
  4. Willem Dafoe-At Eternity’s Gate
  5. Lucas Hedges-Boy Erased
Can Bradley Cooper win his very first Golden Globe for his directorial debut? Could Rami Malek pull an upset for his killer performance as Freddie Mercury? Or will John David Washington become the latest child of Hollywood (he is Denzel’s son after all) to be awarded by the Globes?

Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama:
  1. Lady Gaga-A Star is Born
  2. Glenn Close-The Wife
  3. Melissa McCarthy-Can You Ever Forgive Me?
  4. Rosamund Pike-A Private War
  5. Nicole Kidman-Destroyer
After a very controversial win on the TV side three years ago for her performance on American Horror Story: Hotel, can Lady Gaga win another Golden Globe for her critically-acclaimed star turn in A Star is Born? Or could HFPA members only take care of her in Best Original Song and maybe give acting legend Glenn Close her first Globe on the film side?

Best Motion Picture-Comedy/Musical:
  1. The Favourite
  2. Green Book
  3. Vice
  4. Crazy Rich Asians
  5. Mary Poppins Returns
While Yorgos Lanthimos failed to make the Best Director lineup, does the British appeal of The Favourite still push it over the edge in this category? Or could more American (and controversial) films like Green Book or Vice take it instead?

Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Comedy/Musical:
  1. Christian Bale-Vice
  2. Viggo Mortensen-Green Book
  3. Robert Redford-The Old Man and the Gun
  4. Lin-Manuel Miranda-Mary Poppins Returns
  5. John C. Reilly-Stan & Ollie
Can Christian Bale overcome the divided reception to Vice by winning for his complete transformation as Dick Cheney? Or could Viggo Mortensen overcome the backlash Green Book received from Don Shirley’s family?

Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Comedy/Musical:
  1. Olivia Colman-The Favourite
  2. Emily Blunt-Mary Poppins Returns
  3. Constance Wu-Crazy Rich Asians
  4. Elsie Fisher-Eighth Grade
  5. Charlize Theron-Tully
Can the underappreciated British actress Olivia Colman win here to show herself as a strong contender moving forward in the Oscar race? Or could the more famous British actress Emily Blunt prevail for the same role that won Julie Andrews her first Golden Globe back in 1965?

Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture:
  1. Mahershala Ali-Green Book
  2. Richard E. Grant-Can You Ever Forgive Me?
  3. Adam Driver-BlacKkKlansman
  4. Sam Rockwell-Vice
  5. Timothée Chalamet-Beautiful Boy
Despite going on to win the Oscar two years ago, Mahershala Ali shockingly lost the Globe for Moonlight to Aaron Taylor-Johnson for Nocturnal Animals. Can he win this year to make up for that loss? Or could veteran British actor Richard E. Grant earn his first major acting award for his performance as a gay character?

Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture:
  1. Regina King-If Beale Street Could Talk
  2. Amy Adams-Vice
  3. Rachel Weisz-The Favourite
  4. Claire Foy-First Man
  5. Emma Stone-The Favourite
Can Regina King continue her sweep through the critics awards here? Or could Amy Adams’ presence within the past year with Vice and Sharp Objects (on the TV side) catapult her to the winners circle?

Best Director:
  1. Spike Lee-BlacKkKlansman
  2. Alfonso Cuarón-Roma
  3. Bradley Cooper-A Star is Born
  4. Peter Farrelly-Green Book
  5. Adam McKay-Vice
Can Spike Lee become the very first African American to win a Golden Globe for directing? Or could Alfonso Cuarón win a second for the foreign language film juggernaut, Roma?

Best Screenplay:
  1. The Favourite-Deborah Davis & Tony McNamara
  2. Vice-Adam McKay
  3. If Beale Street Could Talk-Barry Jenkins
  4. Green Book-Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie, & Peter Farrelly
  5. Roma-Alfonso Cuarón
Does The Favourite appear to be the most writerly driven of all the nominees? Or can Green Book, If Beale Street Could Talk, and/or Vice win as a way to award their directors?
